Can You Affect Another Person's Behavior With Your Thoughts?

Do you think that the private thoughts in your head could influence how other people — or creatures — act? The answer is "Of course not," right? Because to say yes would be to admit you believe in mind control or telekinesis or some other phenomenon usually reserved for superhero comic books. Just the Way You Are

Most children in the United States that were born between the late sixties and the early nineties watched Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. Most can probably still remember all the words to the theme song. The format of the show was uncomplicated and yet profound. This kind man presented a show that transcended anything else in television history because at the core of his program there was a depth of thoughtfulness and a patient discipline. Why Design Should Include Everyone

Sinéad Burke is acutely aware of details that are practically invisible to many of us. At 105 centimeters (or 3' 5") tall, the designed world -- from the height of a lock to the range of available shoe sizes -- often inhibits her ability to do things for herself. Here she tells us what it's like to navigate the world as a little person and asks: "Who are we not designing for?" Source:  https://www.ted.com/talks/sinead_burke_why_design_should_include_everyone

Generation Z Goes to College

Image
What are the unique characteristics of Generation Z, or those born from 1995-2010? How should our college and university organizations, environments, policies, and curriculum adapt to best meet the needs of this newest generation to come to campus? What do student affairs educators need to know to best engage and connect with students from Generation Z? Corey Seemiller and Meghan Grace, authors of Generation Z Goes to College, write, “Although some characteristics may look similar to the Millennial Generation, Generation Z brings a whole new set of attributes and experiences to higher education.” Source:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=6&v=u3DHMlE9LWk

Love Yourself - School Counselor Introduction

Image
From Emmy Marvin Source:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLtmvusFeKw Hi, fellow counselors! I wanted to share a fun little video I made over the long weekend. I am a first-year counselor in Ripon, WI. I made this to share with my elementary school students this week as part of my introduction! I hope it is a fun way for them to engage with me and get a better picture of what I do! For those who have asked - the entire thing was created with an iPad. I bought the karaoke version of the song from iTunes, and used a website called Transposr to get it into the right key for my voice. I then recorded the track with Garage Band (an app all iPads have). I filmed the entire thing with an iPad camera, and then edited it using iMovie (another standard iPad app). The entire thing, start to finish, took 3 hours. The apps on the iPad are SUPER user friendly! My advice is to have a game plan going into filming so you can film in order - it will save a TON of editing time! LYRICS BELOW...
